We are very pleased to announce that New British Artists will be joining Cambridge Art Fair for the first time in 2017.
New British Artists is a commercial art gallery that pioneered the sale of artwork over the internet in 1999. They exhibit online, at many national art fairs and at international events. For over 15 years New British Artists has showcased the very best in contemporary British art, representing a unique selection of artists across a broad skill set- from recent graduates to international professionals working in painting, print and sculpture.
You will find a selection from their wonderful portfolio of British Artists on Stands A6 & A7 in the Large Hall. Click here to visit their website.
We are very pleased to announce an exciting new exhibitor for this year's Cambridge Art Fair, Works on Paper- From Berlin will feature some of the unique works of a Berlin artist, who passed away ten years ago in September.
Dealer Simon Hearnden unearthed the delightful, accomplished monotypes of the enigmatic Walter Lindner (1936-2007) in a street market in Berlin in 2006. As a graphic designer himself, Simon quickly recognized that Lindner was a true master of his oeuvre. He had no hesitation in selling his Oxfordshire home to purchase the contents of the artist’s studio, after the artist passed away not long after they had met.
For four fruitful decades Lindner perfected his somewhat unique technique- creating monotypes by painting with oils on to glass plates, before making a one-off print from the plate. The print became the basis for his unique, hand-finished, sometimes elaborately embellished, original artworks.
Looking great in almost any location and with much humour or dark satire at times, these currently relatively inexpensive, exquisite compositions also present a possible investment opportunity. Wherever they are shown the works create considerable interest amongst collectors and artists alike. For Simon it will only be a fitting legacy for the artist once he becomes better regarded.
After completing a degree at each of the Berlin Arts Universities in the 1950s, Lindner had become a senior graphic designer at Siemens Berlin advertising department, before embarking on a solo career alongside his illustrator wife, Maria. He completed 40 years of exhibiting at the well-regarded Frankfurt Art Fair in 2005 and sold well at exhibitions throughout Germany, especially during the 1970s and 80s. However Lindner was an introvert and remained under the radar in terms of wider recognition, though highly regarded by his contemporaries.
During this tenth year since Lindner’s passing Simon in touring the UK, exhibiting a selection of the artist’s original monotypes, artist edition prints and limited edition releases. A significant showing of the artist’s work is to be exhibited at The Sewell Gallery, Radley College in September, and a showing at David Simon Contemporary in Bath in February was well received.
Simon is a brother of art expert and former Antiques Roadshow and Cash in the Attic presenter Jonty Hearnden.
Be sure to visit Simon's stand at the art fair, Stand C6 in the Large Hall. He will also be showing work by Tabor Presse and Rolf Diess (1925-1964), also from Berlin.
