Sylke Claridge is a German Expressionist painter now living in Australia. Sylke has been painting for over twenty years and has studied in Germany, Austria and Australia. She lived in Germany (Munich) and in France (Paris) before moving to England (Cambridge) in 1996 and then to Australia (Sydney) in 2004.
Painting in both acrylics on canvas and watercolour and mixed media on paper, her subjects include landscapes, cities, people and life scenes as well as uplifting flower paintings. In addition she also incorporates into her paintings the principles of Feng Shui, with her very popular ‘Guardian Angel’ series. She has exhibited her art in galleries in Munich, Berlin, Zurich, Paris, Cambridge, Harrogate, London and Sydney.
The Darryl Nantais Gallery is now Sylke’s sole distributor in the United Kingdom. We hold in stock a wide selection of her paintings and are delighted that we are able to receive her new work from Australia. A selection of her paintings can be viewed on our website. We are delighted to stage major exhibitions of her work every two years (even numbers) with Sylke attending the Private Views.

The gallery is situated on the historic cobbled street of Elm Hill and is part of the Norwich Cathedral Quarter. They will be on Stand S03 in the Small Hall.
Brigitte Williams studied at The Slade School of Art where she graduated in 2006 with distinction. She won the inaugural Catlin Art Prize in 2007, and her reputation and practice has continued to grow ever since. Her work is now widely exhibited and purchased for public and private collections in the UK and abroad
The principle of the work examines the relationship between linguistic and visual patterns underlying our unconscious understanding of the world, and how the recognition of these systems fuel our ability to make predictions and form expectation. To this metaphysical concept, structured rules are applied, which lead to the creation of intricate maps, geometric patterns or organic shapes.
These rules often contain an ambiguity which allows humour, poetry and chance to coalesce with the cerebral and clinical nature of the imagery.
My Life In Art on Stand S08 will be showing Brigitte's work at this year's fair.
Luis Marzoratti was born in Mar del Plata, Argentina, a descendent of Italian immigrants. He has a great love of his land and the Argentine people. Marzoratti brought his passion and ideals to his art and worked as a political artist. Much of his work incorporates imagery that is symbolic to the struggles of the Argentine people.
In his latest series Los Códigos del Sol depicts a beautiful beach with the blue sea and an sun umbrella. Behind the umbrella are silhouettes of people. For Marzoratti this represents the need to hide your thoughts and opinions that differ from the political over-culture. Each peaceful and relaxing scene belays the undercurrents that lay beneath the veneer.
In his El Mar Cercano series, The Ceibo which is the national flower of Argentina is the main focal point. The Ceibo is a familiar symbol that appears to float through his work along with other cultural icons like pottery and sculptural artifacts. The Ceibo represents hope and the 'best' of Argentina and offers a reminder of the natural beauty of his country and the pride of its people.
Luis will be represented by Blue Contemporary on Stand L19 in the Large Hall.
White Space Art was established in the heart of the market town of Totnes in 2003. The gallery exhibits an everchanging collection of work by emerging and established British artists, such as Mark Hall (see image below), predominantly from the southwest of England.
The gallery holds several exhibitions throughout the year and exhibits at various art fairs. White Space Art will be on Stand L40 in the Large Hall.
Born in Lund, in Southern Sweden, Elisabeth Lindstedt lives on the beautiful island of Oland, off the east coast of Sweden. She trained at the School of Arts in Stockholm and at the Fine Arts Academy in Gothenburg.
Over the last 20 years, Elisabeth has become one of Sweden's leading painters, exhibiting at most of that country's leading galleries. Her deceptively simple, sometimes bleak, landscapes have a haunting quality and capture the character of Oland with real depth. Composition is a strength, and so is an understated, perhaps typically Scandinavian, strength of purpose.
Lime Tree Gallery of Long Melford, Suffolk, and Bristol, is Elisabeth’s sole representative in the UK, and her works have been consistently well received, in the galleries, and at major art fairs in London, including 20/21 International at the Royal College of Art.
Elisabeth's work can be seen at Cambridge City Art Fair via Lime Tree Gallery on Stand L07.
The Cambridge Magazine launched last night at Hotel Du Vin and features some excellent coverage of Cambridge City Art Fair 2013.
The idea for the magazine was devised a few months ago when Cambridge News (our Media Sponsors) decided to review its magazine portfolio which at the time included the Cambridgeshire Journal, Style and CB magazine. The result was Cambridge Magazine, which will offer readers great value with the launch edition being a bumper-180 pages, it will offer something for everyone.
Edited by Alice Ryan and Louise Cummings, the aspirational publication is feature-led and includes creative, well-illustrated, articles about, fashion, homes, arts and culture, people and places as well as what is going on in Cambridge.
The magazine will be distributed in a unique way with copies of the publication available from John Lewis, 75 selected retailers, in first class carriages of Stansted Express trains, through Waitrose home delivery service and there will also be a number of free pick up points throughout Cambridge and hand delivered door-to-door to selected areas of the city.
Cambridge Magazine is new, vibrant and sophisticated. It gives you a modern view of what is available in the city, county and beyond. Written by journalists who are specialists in their field, Cambridge Magazine is a must read for those who think of Cambridge as their city.
As well as an advert and a small article in the Arts & Culture section, we have a fantastic double page spread featuring highlights from some of the exhibitors (page 118-119) and a good spread in the Pictured section too (page 125).
